Intergas Energie Amends Standard Gas Tariffs

On the basis of the outcome of an investigation into the fairness of consumer tariffs, the Office of Energy Regulation (DTe) has held discussions with Intergas Energie, an energy company based in Oosterhout, which is active, in particular, in Mid and West Brabant. On the basis of the discussions held, Intergas Energie has informed DTe that it will lower its standard tariffs as of 1 April 2005. These are the tariffs which customers are charged who do not have a fixed contract with Intergas Energie and who can switch supplier without giving notice. The tariffs of Intergas Energie's so-called flex and stable contracts remain unchanged.

G.J.L. Zijl, Director of DTe: "The Lower House of the Dutch Parliament has assigned DTe the statutory task of protecting consumers and ensuring that energy companies pass on to customers as many of the efficiency advantages as possible resulting from the liberalisation of the energy market. I am therefore pleased that we have reached this result with Intergas Energie in this way."
